CBC Mailing...

One of our members got the junk mailing from CBC, and his daughter had her way with it. The envelope is now actually more informative than the contents. Good work Maggie! It has since been "Returned to Sender".

You guys do have to work with management when you get back right? Sounds like a hostile return.

Maybe so but two wrongs don't make a right.

Hostile; maybe a little, but understand the circumstances. Besides, this emphaszes that it is not just the employee that is affected by this "LOCK-OUT", but families as well. Believe me when I say that we all would rather be working...CBC senior management took this action.

CBC management has sent out 5500 mailings telling us nothing we didn't already know. They could have posted the info to a website (as one of our colleagues did) and it would have been just as effective. Instead, they thought it was prudent to send an envelope to every member at, what I estimate, must have cost $15000 or more (postage, supplies, printing cost, people to stuff the envelopes...). Is that money well spent??

No, it's not money well spent but that's typical to the federal government and CBC which is a crown corporation. As much effort that is taken to distance CBC from the federal government, the bureaucracy which shows up in cases like this and the lock-out prove the two are far too connected. It's interesting that if it was any other federal agency, CBC reporters would be condemning the situation and doing stories on it. I doubt CBC will do stories on itself of watsed taxpayer dollars but maybe this is the itme when you're independent to do such things. Just a suggestion. People should know where their tax dollars are going.
